Information about Sports Facilities
In terms of allocation of time, Physical
Education and Games have always enjoyed a high priority within the
School. In most years, pupils are able to easily exceed the minimal
guidelines stated by the Government in terms of time allocated to P.E.
/ games lessons. This is especially true for our pupils in year 8 and
below.
The School generally follows a traditional games
programme. By this, we mean that boys are mainly involved in rugby,
football and hockey, and girls are mainly involved in netball, hockey
and (to a lesser extent) football.
Within the PE programme, pupils are involved in activities such as gymnastics and swimming.
In Year 4, pupils participate in the following programme (per week):
- 1 x swimming lesson (off-site)
- 1 x period of P.E.
- 2 x double periods of Games
In Year 5 & 6, pupils participate in the following programme (per week):
- 1 x swimming lesson (off-site)
- 2 x triple periods of Games (Afternoon Games)
In Year 7 & 8, pupils participate in the following programme (per week):
- 1 x P.E. lesson
- 2 x triple periods of Games (Afternoon Games)
In Year 9 & 10, pupils participate in the following programme (per week):
- 1 x P.E. lesson
- 2 x triple periods of Games (Afternoon Games)
