Educational Visits
Educational visits are an important part of life at Red House School. Many educational experiences are arranged to enrich the curriculum with interesting and stimulating activities. These occasions include visits to places of special interest, speakers who come into school and visiting groups. Pupils have the added opportunity of going on a variety of school trips to places of educational interest. Below are a selection of recent Red House trips and visits
Red House Nursery & Infant and Prep. & Senior School regularly have visits from theatre groups, educational groups and organised workshops. The following are just a few of recent visits:
Zoolab Visit: Children at the Nursery & Infant school from Nursery to Year 3 had the opportunity to interact with some weird and wonderful creatures brought to the school under the expert control and tuition of Zoolab staff. From Florida Corn snakes to Chilean spiders, children had a thoroughly fun and exciting experience learning all about exotic wildlife species
BAFTA award winning author visit: Leading children's literature author and creator of TV series 'Hilltop Hospital', Nicholas Allan kept children in both schools entertained with his unique style of animated teaching as part of a series of literature workshops
Djembe Drumming Workshop: Hands-on drumming and musical skills workshops kept children from Nursery to Year 3 thoroughly entertained
Recent Red House trips have included:
Year 2: Visit to Beamish Open Air Museum. Taking part in Victorian class activities
Year 4: Visit to Billingham Beck Ecology Park. This trip was a valuable part of pupils science syllabus, with many activities such as pond dipping, bird identification and investigation into the habitats of 'mini-beasts'
Year 5:Theatre trip to the 'Arc' in Stockton to view a performmance of 'Aladin et la lampe enchante'. This exciting visit was very helpful for pupils studying French language at Red House
Year 6: Visit to Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland. A day trip exploring the history and archaeology of this classic heritage site. Pupils had the opportunity to study all about Roman life.
Year 7: Visit to Skipton & Bolton Castle - exploring the history of these heritage sites. Two of the finest examples of historic castle in Yorkshire provided the setting for an investigation into the history of this period
