First Red House Chick Hatches!

The first Red House chick hatches at 8.15am on Tuesday 23rd June

As part of an end of the year Science project and a continuation of a study of 'Life Cycles', pupils and staff have been studying the hatching of chicken eggs in the biology laboratory. Safely stored in a dedicated incubator and maintained at a set temperature, several eggs have been closely monitored by teachers Miss Juckes and Mrs Sullivan along with several excited year groups.

Initially one of the eggs fell by the wayside and didnt hatch. But of the remaining two eggs, one hatched into a healthy chick at 8.15am this morning. The second egg looks certain to hatch very soon, probably later todat, as activity can be observed within the shell.
