School Inspection Report 2005

Red House School provides a warm and vibrant community in which pupils grow into thoughtful and caring individuals was how the introduction to the Independent Schools Inspectors report began.

Red House School, Norton, a 3-16 co-educational independent school has been given a glowing inspection report.  The school has been commended for its very good introduction to school in its Nursery and Reception classes its very good teaching and GCSE results which are consistently well above the national average.

The Nursery and Infant School, which has recently been refurbished and extended, was described as having spacious accommodation around a courtyard setting that is very well suited to its purpose.  The report commended the education provided in Red House’s Nursery and Infant School commenting on the high standards achieved by pupils and the very good resources for learning and very good teaching which includes the use of specialist teachers for music and PE.

The commitment of staff at the school was commented on, the report noting that ‘dedicated teachers have high expectations of pupils and deal well with their individual needs’.  The quality of pupils’ learning, attitudes and behaviour is described as being very good with pupils responding to the positive role model provided by their teachers.

The formal curriculum provided by the school is shown to be broad and balanced whilst a very broad range of sporting, musical and other activities contribute to pupils’ personal development.

A particular feature of Red House School, identified by the inspection team, was the strong parental involvement in the running of the school, contributing to its warm and friendly family ethos, ‘which combines traditional values with a real ambition for each pupil to succeed’.

“We can all be very proud of what is being achieved at Red House.  Dedicated teachers, well motivated pupils and strong support from home provides for a happy and purposeful school.”
