This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role leading the musical life of Red House School. The vacancy has arisen following the decision of the current incumbent, Mr Gordon McReddie, to retire after 24 years of distinguished teaching and leadership.

The Director of Music will be responsible for the leadership and management of the Music Department, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning are delivered and leading our talented team of peripatetic staff and our co-curricular music programme.

This role provides great scope for imagination, innovation and dynamic leadership from the right candidate, and will require creativity, energy and a sense of adventure, as well as strong leadership potential and empathy.

Music has an essential role to play in allowing our incredible pupils the scope to be expressive, to challenge themselves, to have fun and be creative, to work together, and to develop the skills to perform under pressure. Whether it is our annual musical productions and our concerts and services, or our weekly choirs and instrumental ensembles, there is space for everyone at Red House School to make music a part of their lives. The school offers GCSE Music and many of our pupils go onto study A Level Music.

Red House is a wonderful school, for boys and girls between 2 and 16 years, in the beautiful village of Norton on Teesside.  It provides an excellent, inspirational, holistic education to 340 pupils.  Results at GCSE are excellent, as is the pastoral care offered to our pupils.  The children also participate in an extensive co-curricular programme and Red House sees considerable success in sport.

Interested candidates may contact the incumbent Director of Music, Mr McReddie, for an informal conversation.  He is available on the school number.

Further details and the school application form can be found below.  The completed application form, including the names and contact details of three referees, and a letter of application (no longer than two pages with minimum font size 10) should be emailed to the Head, Dr R Ashcroft (via claire.bellerby@redhouseschool.co.uk).
