Four Red House School children walking in a line holding hands

Dear Parents,

It’s been an absolute pleasure watching the children from Nursery to Year 6 perform over the last few days. My thanks to all the staff who have lived these productions for many weeks and to the children who entertained us so much. And the festive fun continues next week…

Carols & Cocoa – Tuesday 11 December at 7pm

We look forward to seeing many of you at this annual event in the Senior School Dining Room. It’s a rather lovely and informal way for our community to come together. Please confirm attendance with Mr McReddie if you have not done so already ( and feel free to be rather outrageous in your choice of Christmas attire.

Senior Carol Service – Thursday 13 December at 7pm

We are holding our annual carol service in Stockton Parish Church on Thursday evening. I say annual, yet we had to cancel the event last year due to snow. I’ve checked the forecast and we’re good to go this year. Whilst only pupils from Years 5-11 will be performing, the event is open to all members of the Red House community. You do not need to book.

Junior School Carol Service – Friday 14 December at 9.15am

The Junior School will, once again, hold it’s service in St Mary’s.  This is a lovely way for the children and family members to celebrate the end of term.  I know it can be difficult for some parents to attend due to work commitments.  We have looked at running events at different times but, sadly, we are constrained by the availability of the church.

I have read all the reports and remain delighted by the progress the vast majority of pupils are making.  Should there be any concerns which are not explained within the report, please contact the relevant class teacher (in the Junior School) or tutor (in the Senior School).  Senior colleagues are, of course, always available to help should further intervention be necessary.

Sunday Times Parent Power

Many of you will have seen our placing: first in the North and fifth in the country.  We are delighted to be recognised as a leading school nationally within our category and will work hard to maintain our standing.

Internet Safety

Once again, we have gone through our e-safety rules with the children which coincided with pupils in Year 10 presenting an impressive assembly on the topic. I think we all know how important this issue is and the fact it will continue to be important in the lives of our young people. We have attached an information sheet for your perusal so that you can re-enforce the message too. Last year we invited into school a guest speaker to talk to staff and parents and this is something we will do on a biennial basic.

I hope you have a lovely weekend; we’re nearly there!

With best wishes

Ken James
