A sketch of the original Red House School building with the Red House School Alumni logo on top of the drawing

Dear Parents,

I can’t quite believe it’s half term!  The vast majority of children have given their all and I hope they have a wonderful time away from the classroom over half-term.  Year 11 will no doubt need to put aside some time for revision but I hope they take time to relax too; we need to keep them sane until June.

Red House Alumni

You may have noticed that we’ve launched ‘Red House Alumni’.  We’re keen to reconnect with former pupils and I’m delighted plans are being made for our first official Alumni event which will take place on Saturday 30 June 2018.  The event will give past pupils the opportunity to reminisce with ‘old’ friends and teachers, whilst looking around the school.  If any of your family or friends, are former pupils (no matter how long ago!) please tell them about the event and ask them to like our new Red House School Alumni Facebook page. Further details on the event and how to register can all be found on the Facebook page.

Goodbye and Thank You

Linda Jeavons and Jackie Stainsby are leaving us.  Linda has done a wonderful job looking after the children at lunchtime and Jackie has been a great asset to our warp around care provision.  I would like to wish them the very best of luck for the future.

School Uniform

A number of parents have asked for an update on the new uniform for September.  I’m waiting for the sample blazers to be produced and the material for the skirts and pinafores is in production too.  As soon as I have the samples available I will be able to co-ordinate the rest of the items (jumpers etc).  After half term we will be heavily discounting some items of old stock should you need anything before September (I’ve noticed a few blazer cuffs rising to elbow level!).  Further details will be provided in due course.

Many thanks to those parents who have arranged sponsorship for the netball nationals and the chemistry national final; the children are very appreciative.  Should any parents wish to discuss other ways in which they/their company can support the school moving forward, please do get in touch.

I hope you manage to spend some time with the children over half term.  I will be in school for a few days overseeing the renovations: we’re continuing to revamp the corridors and the P&S hall in preparation for ‘Joseph’.  The chandeliers are already in place…

With best wishes

Ken James
