Dear Parents,

I had a wonderful time away with Year 7 last weekend.  Whilst it was memorable for a number of reasons, I was particularly happy with the way the children fully participated in everything we threw at them.  They were wonderful company, as were the teachers who accompanied the trip.  We are busy arranging a similar trip for Year 6 – watch this space!

Bags are being dispatched with the children.  Please fill them over half term and return them to school by Thursday 2 November.  Many thanks for helping with this.

Half term is often a time for a quick trim.  I would like to remind all pupils that we do not allow extreme styles; this includes colour and length.  For pupils in the Prep & Senior School, further guidance can be found in planners

Opening of the Norton Astro-turf – Sunday 29 October

Our pupils have been invited to this event where there will be a coaching session from 10am until 12noon.  The session is aimed at pupils in Years 4-8 and we hope some of our pupils will be able to support Norton Hockey Club; just turn up on the day.

Please remember to book your tickets for this event on Friday 3 November.  It’s usually very well attended so I’d suggest you book soon.

Restructure of Red House School

Thank you to those parents who attended the meeting on Wednesday and to those who have spoken and written to me too.  There is overwhelming support for the formation of a Junior School (Nursery-Year 5) and a Senior School (Years 6-11).  Over half term I will put together a short summary of the discussions thus far.  My colleagues and I will also be working together over the coming months to address some of the points raised to ensure Years 4 and 5 continue to have an excellent experience at Red House.

We have started to transform the pupil entrance in the Prep & Senior School, ready for the contractors during half term.  Hopefully, the children will be impressed on their return although they may be disappointed with the lack of glitter!

I hope the children have a wonderful half term with you.  It’s been a busy few weeks and I’m certainly ready for a break; I suspect they are too!

With best wishes

Mr Ken James
