It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…I hope you’ve seen our festive photos and video on Facebook. Whilst so many things have been different this term, I think it is important for us to ensure the pupils have their usual fun-filled end to the Autumn Term; we have lots planned.
The PTA is, once again, organising a tombola for Friday 11 December for both sides of the pond. Tickets are 50p or 3 for £1; please remind the children on Friday. My thanks to the members of the PTA who have organised this lovely treat for the children.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading the children’s reports over the last week or so. It has reminded me of the Herculean efforts of the children and staff over the last term. Whilst we have all faced new challenges, learning has remained at the forefront of life at Red House and the children continue to make excellent progress.
Reports for all year groups (except Years 9 & 11) have been sent home with the children today. Reports for Years 9 & 11 will be with you next week. Should you have issues you wish to discuss, please raise them with your son/daughter’s tutor (Senior School) or class teacher (Junior School) in the first instance.
The government has provided information this week about the examinations in the summer. Sadly, the main thrust of the information provided is to say further information will be provided! What we do know so far is:
• more generous grading than usual, in line with national outcomes from 2020, so pupils this year are not disadvantaged;
• pupils receiving advance notice of some topic areas to focus revision;
• exam aids – like formula sheets – provided in some exams giving pupils more confidence and reducing the amount of information they need to memorise;
• additional exams to give pupils a second chance to sit a paper if the main exams or assessments are missed due to illness or self-isolation.
Once we know a little more (hopefully in January) we will be in touch. The most up-to-date information can be found by clicking here.
Update from Stockton on Tees Public Health Team
We have received information recently from Public Health with regard to household isolation and ‘not to let your guard down’ and this can be found here.
Many thanks for your generosity and kindness towards our collection for the Food Bank and Cash for Kids. Today was the final day for food hamper donations whilst toys can still be brought in for Cash for Kids until next Tuesday, 8 December.
Have a lovely weekend.
With best wishes
