Ken James Headmaster at Red House School

Dear Parents,

As I mentioned last week, we’ve been covering safer internet use in school this week.  Hopefully, all the children know how to stay safe on line and, if you ever have any concerns, please feel free to share them with us so that we can work together to keep the children safe.

There was also timely advice from the UK’s chief medical officers.  Whilst the four senior clinicians said “technology can be a wonderful thing”, they also stated that too much time is spent sitting down or using mobile devices rather than taking part in important, healthy activities. Although they concluded that the published scientific research is currently insufficient to support evidence-based guidelines on screen time, they are encouraging parents to ban mobile phones at bedtime and have smartphone-free family meals; food for thought.

Fashion Show – Friday 1 March
The children on both sides of the pond are busily preparing for this biennial event.  No doubt we will be bowled over by their creations on the night and all their hours of creativity will be richly rewarded.  Please find attached further details about how to book tickets for this event.

PTA Ball – Friday 10 May
Please try and support this event.  It’s a wonderful way to get to know members of our community in a relaxed setting and dancing is not compulsory although highly encouraged!  You can find the booking form by clicking here.

90th Anniversary Event
As many of you will know, Red House was founded by a group of parents, in 1929, to provide the very best education possible for their children.  We remain a school run by parents and we continue to strive for excellence in all that we do.  We’re having a ‘light touch’ celebration of our 90th year and all parents, staff, former staff members and alumni will be invited to a family BBQ on Friday 13 September (I’m not superstitious!). Further details will follow in due course but, hopefully, many of you will be able to attend.

Enjoy the weekend.

With best wishes

Ken James
