Fireworks in the sky

Dear Parents,

The sound of carols has been heard – we’re hurtling towards Christmas already!  We have a busy half term ahead of us and I hope to see many of you over the coming weeks.

Many thanks to the PTA for organising this event which, no doubt, will be a great success.  Wrist bands for entry should have come home with the children but if there’s a problem, just speak to the volunteers on the door.  Please can I ask you to park with consideration.  The Nursery & Infant car park will be available from 6pm.

Joseph Tickets (Years 4-11)

I’ve managed to secure tickets for the matinee performance of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat at the Metro Arena on Thursday 21 December.  A letter is attached should your son/daughter wish to join this outing.  Preference will be given to cast members initially.

e-Safety Talk

I’d encourage as many of you as possible to come along to this event in the Prep & Senior School Hall on Tuesday of next week, starting at 4.15pm.  Dave Dixon will talk you through various issues affecting the children and will also be on hand to answer questions.  Please feel free to invite friends with children at other schools; let’s work to keep all children safe.

Songs from the Shows

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at this event on Wednesday.  Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7pm.  There are a number of acts performing and I would ask members of the audience to try and stay for the whole performance (about an hour and a half).  After all, all the children deserve to play to a full audience.  The event is free but there will be a raffle and a retiring collection for the musical theatre fund.

Stay & Play – Friday 1 December 1.45-3pm

We’re hosting another ‘stay & play event’ for children aged 2–4 who are interested in joining Red House.  Should you have friends or colleagues who’d like to know more about us, this is a fantastic opportunity for them to meet the team.  The event will be full of festive fun with lots of interactive activities including singing, arts & crafts and storytelling. Booking is essential as places are limited and further information can be found here or by contacting Rosalind Green Tel: 01642 535353 or email:

The children have been delighted with the results of the recent upgrade to the pupil entrance.  Over the coming months we are planning further work on both sides of the pond.  Watch this space as we continue to ensure Red House is the best Red House it can be!

Let’s hope the weather is fine tonight.  Let’s hope this continues tomorrow as I spend the day with our pupils in Year 10 undertaking their practice walk for the Duke of Edinburgh Award.  Reeth is a beautiful place to be…when it’s sunny!

With best wishes

Ken James
