Red House pupil playing in the Nursery classroom

Dear Parents

Over the past couple of days it seems that autumn has well and truly arrived and that the crisper nights are upon us. Autumn is a wonderful time and one of my favourite seasons, with so much to enjoy and savour before winter draws in.

Open Morning
I am hugely excited about welcoming prospective families to my first Red House School Open Morning tomorrow. Please can I remind parents with children in Years 7 & 8 about the start times for the sports sessions, which are taking place at Open Morning: the first session is between 9-10.30am (please can pupils arrive at school at 9.15am) and the second session is taking place between 10.30am-noon (please can pupils arrive at 10.15am).

Year 11 Guide to Choosing A Level Courses
This week, I was delighted to run a session with the Year 11s about making A level choices and choosing the right Sixth Form for the next stage of their educational journey. The Russell Group universities have a website called ‘Informed Choices’ which helps pupils and parents understand which A level subjects open up different degrees and careers: Russell Group ‘Informed Choices

The Red House Runners
On Saturday, seven members of staff are doing the ‘Very 2020 Race for Life’. Our staff are starting their event after Open Morning with a socially distanced group shot, before going to do the 5K run back at their respective homes. They had an initial target of £210 and they are already at over £500. If you would like to donate to Cancer Research UK and help the Red House Runners raise money for life-saving research into cancer, please click here: #Very2020RaceforLife – Red House Runners

COVID-19 letter for parents from the Department of Education
Public Health England has produced a letter for schools to distribute to parents which explains when a person requires a coronavirus test and what the symptoms of coronavirus are. You can view the letter by clicking on here: Department of Education COVID Letter to Parents

Year 5 Reminder from Mr Haywood
On Tuesdays and Fridays, please may the Year 5s be collected from the Senior School not the Junior School. If you are unable to collect at 4pm, your child will be taken to ‘Tea and Prep’ in the Senior School, rather than wrap around care in the Junior School.
