Red House pupil playing in the Nursery classroom

Dear Parents

It has been lovely to see the sun over the last few days.  Let’s hope we can have at least another day of such lovely weather.

Open Morning

We’re hoping to see quite a few families tomorrow and I know the children are looking forward to showing our guests around.  Thank you for promoting the event and for bringing the children in on a Saturday (by 8.45am please).

Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health

As a school we are fully committed to equipping the children to lead healthy lives and part of this is to ensure we look after their mental wellbeing.  We are looking to increase our focus on mindfulness and have chosen to work towards an award from the Carnegie Centre of Excellence at Leeds Beckett University.  We looking for parent volunteers to help us address the competencies within the award and Mrs Cooper would love to hear from you if you can spare some time.  Further details can be found here.

PTA Quiz Night: Friday 28 February

Please support this fun event.  A booking form can be found here.

Tomorrow we have two teams – the Under 16s and the Under 14s – at the regional netball finals.  This is an unprecedented achievement for Red House and we are all hoping the girls can progress to the last 16 in the country (as the Under 16s did at Under 14 level).  I wished them all the very best of luck in this morning assembly and, whilst I hope we win, the children being the best they can be remains our number one priority.

Deputy Head/Head of Senior School

We have received 29 applications for this role and there are some very strong candidates who would like to work at our wonderful school.  The appointment process will take us up to half term but I will let you know a little more about the successful candidate once the process has been concluded.

Cake Sale

Thank you to those parents who supported the pupil initiative to hold a cake sale today in aid of the wildlife in Australia.  The timing was perfect: it’s Australia Day on Sunday!

With best wishes

Ken James
