young girl writing at her desk

Dear Parents,

Open Morning

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming our guests tomorrow.  Thank you to those parents who are helping and to those making the extra journey to school.  It’s still not too late to share our posts and tag friends; every little helps!

Hartlepool Bus

We have amended the timings for the journey each morning on the Hartlepool bus.  The new timetable (which has been emailed to the relevant parents and given to the children) starts on Monday.  Further details can be found at:

I would like to offer my continued thanks to the parents and staff members who dedicate their free time helping the PTA.  All the children benefit from the efforts of these dedicated volunteers and, although you may not be able to help plan and organise events, I hope you feel able to support their endeavours.  Two dates I would like you to make special note of are:

  • 23 February: Quiz Night (children welcome)
  • 27 April: the PTA ‘Glitter Ball’

Both events are open to parents and their friends and we’d love to see as many of you there as possible.  Further details will be provided shortly.

Red House is currently looking to fill two vacancies:

  • Holiday & Sports Club Co-ordinator
  • Finance Assistant

Should you know anyone who might be interested in either position, please direct them to our website:

The latter role incorporates the running of the uniform shop and it would be remiss of me not to thank Lucie, Dorothy and Helen for running the shop up to this point in time.  Their enthusiasm and general love for Red House has helped to settle many families over many years in those nervous few days before the beginning of term.  They’re not disappearing just yet but will eventually hand over the reins when we have made an appointment.

School Uniform

We now have a design for the new blazer and have chosen the Red House tartan for the skirts and pinafores.  The designs incorporate the points you made in the survey and the views of the children.  Prototypes are in production as we speak although it will be a little while before we see the skirts: the material needs to be woven first.  Once these items are confirmed, we will turn our attention to all the other items of uniform.  But to address the most contentious issue: the blazers will be machine washable!

With best wishes

Ken James
