Happy New Year to you all and I hope your new year’s resolutions are still in place!
It’s our first Open Morning of 2018 next Saturday (20 January). We’ve asked the children to help us once again; prospective families love meeting the children. You may have seen our promotional adverts on social media. Please can I encourage you to share the Open Morning post on Facebook, retweet on Twitter and like the post on Instagram; this would certainly help to spread the word.
Whilst we finalise numbers for this September, I also have an eye on September 2019. We currently have very healthy numbers in Year 5 and, therefore, space will be very limited for new entrants into Year 7. I know a number of you have children of this age. Please can I ask you to contact Claire Bellerby about registering with us as soon as possible so that we can give priority to existing families. If you also have friends looking for a school which has excellent teaching in small classes as its priority, please ask them to get in touch sooner rather than later.
I’m delighted to say Miss Reily in the P&S School is qualifying as a forest school leader and will be working with children in Year 1. Whilst our beautiful site sadly lacks a forest, we’ve formed a partnership with Norton Sports Charity and we’re making use of their new, excellent facility. By the beginning of next year, we also hope to have our ‘secret’ outdoor classroom up and running in the new Junior School which will allow further exploration through outdoor learning.
As you will be aware, the school bought this house some time ago with a view to utilising it as part of the redevelopment of the site. However, it became apparent some time ago that its location did not suit out needs. We have sold the property (subject to contract and planning) and plans have been submitted to SBC by a developer. Hopefully, planning and the sale will go through in the coming months which will help with the continued renewal of our current site.
As part of our commitment to the environment and cost saving, we have begun the process of replacing existing lights with LED lights. We’ve started with the sports hall which is a much brighter space now. This should help Year 11 who sit their exams in there and the pupils who wish to see the opposition during matches!
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
This production is gathering pace and is, once again, a collaboration between both sides of the pond. We will provide you with further details in the coming weeks about how to book the hottest seats in town!
With best wishes
