Dear Parents

As the coronavirus continues to affect various areas of the world, please continue to keep abreast of the government advice with respect to travel.  We have no concerns at Red House at the moment and will always take a pragmatic approach, in line with government guidelines.  Let’s hope we see the tide turning with respect to instances being reported in the not too distant future.  The latest advice can be found here.

Private Tuition for LAMDA Speech and Drama Examinations

The pupils of Trudy Hindmarsh have seen remarkable success in their LAMDA examinations of late.  Past results across two and a half years are 98% of pupils gaining merit and distinction grades, with 60% gaining distinctions.  Tuition for the Summer term will begin in the first week back after Easter in preparation for LAMDA Speech and Drama examinations in The Speaking of Verse and Prose, Reading for Performance, Speaking in Public and Acting; the examination will take place on Sunday 14 June.  Any parents interested in their children participating in these lessons should email Trudy at

Readathon – Senior School

The Senior School is running a Readathon Sponsored Read to celebrate World Book Day which is on 5 March.  Readathon is the UK’s national sponsored reading event for schools, which encourages children to read for pleasure whilst raising money to give books to children’s hospitals and to facilitate storyteller visits too.  Please see the letter attached (click here) for further details of this great initiative.

English Position

Due to an increase in the number of pupils wishing to join the Senior School, we are looking to recruit a third English teacher which will ensure we maintain our commitment to small class sizes.  Should you know anyone who might be interested in joining us, further details can be found on the school website.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA Quiz Night this evening.  My team came second last year so I’m aiming to go one better this time!

A gentle reminder – pies & peas are provided in your ticket for tonight, but please remember to bring your own choice of beverages (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and snacks.

With best wishes

Ken James
