I can hardly believe it’s almost the end of my first year. I’ve seen many of you recently – at the fete, the Senior Prize Giving and the Prep School Sports Day – and I’m delighted to say there’s a real buzz about the school at the moment. It’s been a great year for the children – evidenced by so many positive reports – and I’m sure next week will not disappoint too. Tomorrow I’m presenting the prizes at another independent school; I shall resist using too many superlatives about Red House!
On behalf of the PTA, I would like to thank all the parents who have supported the PTA events this year. The fete last weekend was a fine example of the community coming together, having fun and raising funds for a those little extras. I would also like to thank all the members of the PTA who work tirelessly to make events a success too.
I would like to remind you that the school runs a number of bus services each morning and evening. These services offer a safe, reliable option covering Durham, Sedgefield, Peterlee, Wynyard, Hartlepool, Ingleby Barwick, Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe. Full details of the routes covered and rates applicable from September 2017 are available on the school website. If your child is already using the school bus service, Claire will have been in touch to confirm your requirements for next year. If you would like to book a place for your child on the service, either on a regular or an ad hoc basis, please contact Claire (email@example.com) before the end of term.
As you are aware, we are introducing our new sports kit in September (next week I will send ‘opening times’ for purchases during August). Some pupils like to wear ‘skins’ under their kit in the colder months. If you are buying skins, please can I ask you to purchase navy blue ones (rather than any other colour) to help with our improved image. We may, in time, introduce branded items but this will not be the case in September.
Speech & Drama
I would like to remind you of the meeting on Monday where we will outline an exciting proposal for performing arts and speech & drama at Red House. I have attached, once again, the information about this event and hope you can attend (it’s open to parents with children in all years). Should you not be able to attend but wish to comment, please let me know your thoughts.
Senior Prize Giving
Thank you to those who attended this event on Wednesday. The feedback I have received would indicate that most people have welcomed the return of this event to the school hall. Photos taken at the event will be available soon and we will post a link on our Facebook page. Alternatively, please contact Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org
Festival of Achievement & Prep School Prize Giving
I look forward to greeting you at the Festival of Achievement on Thursday at 9.15am and the Prep School Prize Giving at 11am. Should you be attending both events, please feel free to join us for coffee in the library between events.
These have been issued in the Nursery & Infant School and Years 4-6. The reports for Years 7-9 will be dispatched early next week.
With best wishes
