It’s been wonderful seeing the children enjoying Children In Need. With pyjamas, spots and stripes aplenty, I hope we’ve raised a wonderful amount for this great cause.
PTA Family Fireworks
Thank you to all those who attended the PTA Fireworks last week. It was a wonderful event, enjoyed by all. Particular thanks to parents Ray & Neil (who expertly set the fireworks both up and off), the PTA and parent helpers, and the Red House members of staff who made the event such a success.
Thank you so much for the support you gave to this event. I survived the night and managed to mostly function throughout the following day. We’ve raised over £2300 for local homeless charities which is fantastic – thank you. Particular thanks to Peter, one of our parents, who kept me company and also raised further funds for this wonderful cause.
As the weather continues to turn, please can you ensure the children have a coat in school. Some, particularly in the Senior School, are a little reticent to go out when a sensible jacket will keep them warm.
Primary Maths Challenge
We welcomed over 60 pupils from 12 local primary schools on Wednesday to take part in the Primary Maths Challenge. As a Maths teacher myself, I loved seeing so many children enjoying this important subject. I was also delighted to see Red House joint top!
Good luck to Year 11 who start their mock examinations on Monday. As we always say, they must strive for their best and not compare themselves to others; if they do so, we will all be happy. I’ve also reminded them that the mocks are a signpost for what’s left to do. They should see them as a development tool rather than an end result.
Wynyard Hall Festive Shopping Fayre
We are, once again, exhibiting at this event from Thursday until Sunday next week. Our wonderful school choir will also be entertaining the shoppers on Thursday morning. If you are attending, please do pop by and say hello.
Derwentwater Residential – March 2020
An email has been sent to parents separately reminding you about this residential trip. I’ve been a couple of times and really recommend it. It’s an opportunity to present the children with personal challenges in a safe environment, whilst they spend a few days with their friends. We need to confirm numbers by the beginning of December.
We are, once again, going to collect unwanted items of winter clothing to help children less fortunate than our own. Please can I ask you to deposit items at either reception over the next couple of weeks. Coats, jumpers, hats, gloves and scarves will all be well-received. Please ensure nothing has Red House on it and that the children’s names have been removed.
With best wishes
