Red House children visit Father Christmas in the outdoor classroom

Dear Parents,The pupils and staff had a fantastic final few of days of term, enjoying a huge range of festive treats and activities. A Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, quizzes, parties, dingbats, hot chocolate and cookies around the fire pit, a Christmas sing-a-along, snowball dodgeball, chocolate tombolas on both sites, Christmas films and a visit from Father Christmas (and his naughty elf) have all kept the children entertained. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Racz and Mr Winspear, for organising the delicious pizza lunch from Dominos. Many thanks to the PTA for organising the selection boxes for children and all staff, and for arranging the wonderful chocolate tombola.YearbookThe Yearbook has now been published. It is a review of the last school year and a celebration of life at Red House and the amazing achievements of our pupils. The children will be bringing it home this afternoon (one copy per family). Pupils who were not in school today, will receive their copy in the New Year.COVID-19 LFD Home TestingA supply of LFD test kits were sent home with pupils on Monday for use over the Christmas period. A reminder, that it is absolutely essential that all pupils in Years 7-11 continue to be tested at home twice a week throughout the festive period.First Day of TermWe return to school on Thursday, 6 January 2022. All pupils in Years 7-11 will be tested in school on their arrival in school. Please can you ensure that your child brings their mobile phone into school on this date, as it will be needed for them to record their result.Reports & Parent-Teacher Consultation MeetingsYour child’s report is now available on the Parent Portal and the Parent-Teacher consultation dates for Years 6-11 were released in a letter in last week’s Pupil Post. The meetings, which will be conducted via Teams, in the Spring Term, will give you the opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with teachers. If, however, there is anything you wish to discuss sooner with us, please contact your child’s form tutor when we return to school in January. Today’s ‘Christmas Fun Day’ was hugely deserved and a testament to the hard work that has taken place since September. It was wonderful to see the range of Christmas jumpers around School and the smiling faces – particularly at the tombola! Having said that, one of the highlights for me today was during our weekly Celebration Assembly, when it was announced that an approximate total of 11,000 merits have been awarded this term. A fantastic achievement and I can’t wait to see further success next term.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful and restful break with your family over the holidays. Homework has not been set to allow the children to fully recharge and enjoy their Christmas.Reindeer Run (Years 3 -11)Well done to all of the children that took part, and thank you to our PE staff who fully embraced the event during PE sessions this week. What a lovely end to the school year we have had this week. Pupils in Nursery through to Year 3 have recorded their Christmas reading and Carols, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Years 4-6 perform their Christmas production online. It is such a credit to all the pupils that despite having no live audience, they have managed to perform with such enthusiasm and excitement. Many thanks to all the staff for their hard work on these wonderful performances.Metro FM Cash for Kids AppealCan I offer my most sincere thanks to all those who have donated gifts for the ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal. The donations that have arrived in such a short period of time is fantastic and I know your generosity will put a smile of some child’s face this Christmas.New StaffWe are looking forward to welcoming two new staff members to the Junior School in January. Firstly, Mrs Victoria Smith joins the Junior School as teacher of Year 5, Key Stage 2 Coordinator and Assistant Head. We also have Mrs Lisa Rogers coming into Year 2 to cover Mrs Cooper as she takes maternity leave. We wish you both a very happy and successful time at the Junior School.Mrs ButlerIt is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Mrs Butler today. I would like to thank her for the work she has done in Year 5 this term and I’m sure we will see her again and some point in the near future.
