Dear Parents,This week has been truly action-packed on both sides of the pond! On Monday, the Year 2 pupils visited RSPB Saltholme and 16 finalists from the Senior School travelled to Manchester to participate in the ISA National Athletics Finals, with huge success and an amazing 8 visits to the podium! The Year 1 children loved their first week of Forest School with Ms Reily, particularly learning about snails, and many of the pupils in Years 5 and 6 pupils took part in the Stockton Schools Athletics Championship, winning a phenomenal 28 medals! We have also been supporting Men’s Health Week, with a particular focus on the ‘Can Do’ (Connect, Active, Notice, Discover, Offer) challenge in PSHE and tutor time in the Senior School.RHS Pride WeekRed House has been festooned with Pride flags this week and we have really celebrated the importance of Pride, in order to promote inclusivity, positivity and equal rights and opportunities for all. The pupils in the Senior School listened to an informative assembly delivered by the Senior Prefect Team on LGBTQ+ and a powerful and personal talk of how times have changed over the years by Mr McKay. Indeed, in a Year 7 and 8 PSHE/RSE discussion, the pupils stated that they found Mr McKay’s assembly to be ‘awesome, inspirational, brave and outstanding.’ Over in the Junior School, the children have been talking about rainbow families, and making colourful bracelets and flags to celebrate Pride.Thank you to all the pupils, parents and staff, who were involved in the Rainbow Run this afternoon. It was a truly tremendous event and a fantastic way for the whole community to join together to celebrate the importance of diversity and colour within the Red House family. We need your votes! Our Robotics team are seeking to expand their capabilities by adding an additional VEX IQ robot to their existing hardware. How pleasant to see a change in the weather towards the end of the week. It feels like summer might be finally upon us. The pupils are not only working hard at their academic studies, but also in preparation of the events that lie ahead. Next week is always one of my favourite weeks of the year, as we host our Junior School Sports Days.It was a pleasure to accompany the Year 2 pupils on their trip to Saltholme this week, where they thoroughly enjoyed learning about the minibeasts that live in ponds and grasses. Did you know there is a new species of bug that looks a little like a mint humbug that is so rare it may only be native to Saltholme? No, me either!I would also like to congratulate the Year 5 pupils who represented the school at the Stockton Primary Schools Athletics Event on Tuesday. I hear they performed magnificently and did themselves and the school proud.School Summer FeteThe School Summer fete will be with us on Saturday 25 June. I hope to see as many of you there as possible. Traditionally, the Junior School pupils have been given the opportunity to develop their enterprise skills and I would like offer pupils in Year 3 and 4 the opportunity to help run a stall for a short period. It could be ‘Guess the teddy’, ‘How many sweeties in the jar?’, ‘Sweet Tombola’, or even ‘Bash the Rat!’ If your child is interested in helping, please refer to the letter attached to Pupil Post.Summer Holiday ClubThanks to those of you who have already submitted forms for the Summer Holiday clubs.
