Dear Parents,

The children have really enjoyed the lovely weather this week and lots of activities and trips have been taking place. The Year 8 pupils had a fun-filled and fabulous time in Derwent Water and were very adventurous, participating in ghyll scrambling, raft building, abseiling and canoeing, and Year 5 children had a glorious day exploring the unique labyrinth of tunnels, follies and chambers of the Forbidden Corner near Middleham. Year 11 pupils were in school for their final week of the A level Bridging Programme and we are very excited about celebrating their GCSE results with them and their Year 11 Prom at Judges, both on 12 August 2021.

‘Be Inspired’ Careers Programme

We are launching a new Year 10 and 11 careers programme called ‘Be Inspired’ in September 2021. The programme is designed to inspire our pupils with a range of career options and advice about post-16 education and employment, as well as to equip them with the skills and qualities that employers want. If you, or anyone you know, could contribute to this exciting programme, we would love to hear from you.  Please see the letter at the end of Pupil Post with more information about how to get involved.

Prize Giving

Prize Giving will take place in the Junior School on Wednesday 7 July and on the afternoon of Friday 9 July, we will be awarding this year’s prizes to children in Years 6-10. Pupils in Year 11 are also warmly invited to attend the Senior School event should they wish to; however, their attendance is not compulsory. Unfortunately, given the current government restrictions in place until 19 July 2021, both the Junior and the Senior School Prize Giving’s will have to take place behind ‘closed doors’ this year and we are unable to invite parents to attend. However, we will capture all of the special moments and post on social media.

Co-curricular clubs next term

Mr Haywood and I are currently finalising the clubs on offer for the Autumn Term across both sites. These will be sent out in due course with details about how to sign your child up to the different activities.

Year 8 HPV vaccines

This is a gentle reminder that the immunisation team are due to attend Red House School on the afternoon of Thursday 8 July 2021 to vaccinate Year 8 pupils with their first HPV vaccine. If you have not already consented and would like your child to receive them, please visit: Link to give Parental Consent and use school code 111767 to give your consent. Alternatively, please call the immunisation consent line on 01423 557693 and we can take your permission over the phone.

Your child’s school report will be going home with them this evening. If you have any immediate concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher in the Junior School or your child’s subject teacher or form teacher in the Senior School. I know that Mr James has thoroughly enjoyed reading about the wonderful work, which the children have been doing this year.

Next Week

Children in Year 6 are very excited about going on their Bushcraft residential to Castle Howard on Monday and Tuesday next week, whilst Clevercogz are visiting the Junior School on the 8 and 9 July, with pupils in Years 3-5 taking part on Thursday and children in Nursery up to Year 2 getting involved in a range of fabulous activities on Friday.

A reminder that the final two days of this term are non-uniform days for the pupils up to Year 5 on the Junior site. Year 3 & 4 children will still have Games on Thursday and Year 4 will have swimming on Friday. However, Year 5 pupils will not have Games on Friday afternoon and will be picked up at the Junior School.

School Uniform

A reminder that if you would like to purchase any items of uniform from the Uniform Shop in preparation for the children returning in September, please email Mrs Morton via the following link: Uniform Shop email address  for an appointment.

COVID-19 Home Testing: Years 7-11

Please can your child continue to self-test twice a week, in line with current Government guidance. The testing should take place on Monday mornings and Thursday mornings. The packs which were handed out to pupils on Friday 11 June 2021 will cover pupil twice weekly testing until the start of the Autumn Term 2021.

I wish you all a super weekend with your families.

With very best wishes

Rebecca Ashcroft
