Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the PTA Cheese & Wine function last night and an even bigger thank you to those members of the PTA who organised the event.
Reporting To Parents – Years 6-11
We have reviewed once again how we report to parents and have come up with a proposal which we hope strikes a balance between providing you with important information and being able to focus on teaching and learning. In essence we’re proposing the following:
- Reports at the end of terms 1 & 3
- A Parent/Teacher meeting in term 2
Staff will continue to make themselves available throughout the year should you wish to meet them.
I have attached a brief survey which will allow you to comment on the proposal and discuss a couple of other elements of the reporting process (for example, value added data). Some questions are relevant to all parents in Years 6-11 and some are more relevant to parents whose children have already received a report in the senior years. Please feel free to let us know your thoughts: www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/RHSreports
Over half term, the pupil entrance in the Prep & Senior School will be fully refurbished. We’re taking a sledgehammer to walls and generally making the area more pupil friendly – with plenty of storage for shoes. There will, of course, be a few ‘Red House’ touches – watch this space! I am also talking to lighting specialists so that we can make improvements to the Sports Hall and we are liaising with a flooring specialist to replace the sprung floor too.
We will continue to update our facilities now that we are staying in Norton. However, we wish to do so whilst retaining small classes and affordable fees. I do not believe there’s another school locally which can match our class sizes and fee structure.
I’m very much looking forward to seeing some of you tomorrow at this event. Please do come and say hello and tell your friends to visit our stand. There will be some fun activities for the children but, more importantly, we’ll be telling people about the excellence of our teaching and the myriad of activities we offer in school. I’m praying for sunshine – as are the children in Year 9 who departed for their outdoor adventure at lunchtime!
This is fast approaching and we’d love you to spread the word. Please remember that we’re also holding a coffee morning for Macmillan on that day. Thank you to those who have volunteered to bake for this event. We look forward to welcoming you on the day too.
With best wishes
