Ken James Headmaster at Red House School

Dear Parents

I spent two days this week inspecting another independent school.  It gave me a great insight into what they do well and I’ve come away with a few ideas.  It also allowed me to reflect on what we do here and, in many areas, I am pretty content.  However, we will continue to strive for excellence in all areas and encourage the pupils to do so too.

Safer Internet Day – Tuesday 5 February

The school will be running a number of sessions next week to help the children stay safe.  Perhaps this is also an ideal time for you to talk to your children about how to stay safe?  The more the children hear this message, from various adults in their lives, the more likely they are to heed our advice.

Collecting Other People’s Children

If your child is being collected by another parent from an away fixture or another venue outside of school, please make sure the School is aware that you have given your consent. This will ensure we continue to fulfil our safeguarding responsibilities.

PTA Ball – Friday 10 May

Tickets are now on sale for the ball and I hope you and your friends will be able to support this event.  It’s an evening of great food in wonderful company.  It also raises funds for the PTA which allows them to provide the children with extra treats.  The theme is ‘Viva Las Vegas’ but I can confirm I will not be turning up in a rhinestone embellished jump suit.

Open Morning

Thank you for your support.  It was great to see so many families interested in joining Red House and, once again, the pupils were excellent ambassadors.  I’m acutely aware that most people come to visit us after receiving a recommendation from a current parent; thank you for your loyalty.  Year 7 in September is almost full and places for the following September are filling up quickly too.  Please continue to encourage people to come and see us.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the PTA Quiz Night.  I believe I’m on the winning team.

With best wishes

Ken James
