We’ve made it! What a wonderful year it has been and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed celebrating the successes of the children this week. It was lovely to see so many of you at the various end of year functions and thank you for your kind comments to me and colleagues.
Sal’s Shoes – Nursery & Infant School
The Nursery & Infant School is hoping to support the charity Sal’s Shoes (www.salsshoes.com) in September. The charity re-distributes pre-loved, outgrown and no longer needed shoes to places of need. They collect all types of shoes – flip-flops, trainers, football boots, wellies, school shoes and sandals – as long as they are paired (with an elastic band), clean and wearable (no muddy boots or split soles please). Please do not throw away any shoes your children have outgrown and early in the Autumn term, the N&I School will hold a collection.
Uniform Shop – including Sports Kit
The Uniform shop will be open the following times during the summer for those wishing to buy uniform (not sports kit):
- Tues 29 Aug 9am-4pm
- Wed 30 Aug – Closed
- Thurs 31 Aug 9am-1pm
- Fri 1 Sept 9am-1pm
- Mon 4 Sept 9am-4pm
- Tues 5 Sept 9am-4pm
The new sports kit will also be available in the Prep & Senior School Library every day from Wednesday 30 August to Tuesday 5 September. Should you not be available during these times, we will happily ‘fit’ the children with the sports kit during the first week of term. We fully anticipate that the kit will be with us in mid-August. Should there be a delay, we will be in touch.
Just to remind you:
- all pupils in Years 4 -10 will need to purchase some new items (please see attached sheet)
- pupils going into Year 11 will need to purchase some items if they are representing the school at sport
- pupils going into Year 3 will need to buy some items too (as in previous years). Girls: skort and socks. Boys: reversible sports top and socks
Don’t worry if it all seems a little complicated: there will be plenty of people around to help!
LAMDA/Performing Arts in September
Thank you to those who could make the presentation on Monday. If you are interested in taking part in individual LAMDA lessons or the Performing Arts rotation, please contact Jane Jackson (firstname.lastname@example.org) by Monday. I have attached the details of the proposal once again for you.
Clubs for September
Details of clubs in the Prep & Senior School and Nursery & Infant School are attached. We will continue to try to offer a breadth of opportunities for the children.
Ward Jackson Park Summer Funday – Sunday 16 July
Claire, Sarah and I are going to be in (hopefully) sunny Hartlepool on Sunday. Please do come and say hello and point interested friends in our direction.
I would like to officially thank Tony Makin (Director of Studies) for his dedication to the school. Thirty two years is a wonderful achievement and Tony has helped to shape the lives of many and Tiffany White (Head of Prep School) leaves us for a promotion at Newcastle School for Boys. They are lucky to be gaining such a dedicated teacher. Alison Palmer is leaving our catering team and the children in the Nursery & Infant team will miss her wonderful smile. Mark Boden, one of our guitar teachers, is seeking new challenges elsewhere and we wish him well.
I hope you have a wonderful summer with the children. I’m heading off to Australia for three weeks and will be visiting to my old school. Whilst I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone, I’ll be back re-energised for the beginning of term! I began a wonderful journey with Red House in September and I am delighted by the progress we have made. Thank you to those who have shown unswerving loyalty in the last twelve months to this wonderful school. I very much look forward to working with you next year to ensure the school continues to provide an excellent education for our wonderful children.
With best wishes
