Ken James Headmaster at Red House School

Dear Parents,

A very happy new year to you.  I think we were all glad to say goodbye to 2020 and I am sure we will make the most of 2021.

As promised, attached is information from Ms Roberts about remote learning for Years 7-11; please can I ask you to share the timetable with the children.  We have made a few changes, learning lessons from the previous period of remote learning.  Nothing is perfect and, no doubt there will be teething issues, but we will always be at the end of the phone/Teams to support you and the children.

Remote learning suits some pupils more than others but we will be working hard to ensure all the pupils continue to learn during this period of absence.  Unlike last time, the children will not be rewarded with an 8 week holiday to recover from remote learning.  Therefore, it is important that the children do engage fully, ready for a return to face-to-face teaching as soon as we are told we can do so.

We will be working on our Covid testing programme from Monday, once we have more information; thank you to those parents who have already volunteered their time.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend and I hope the thought of remote learning is not filling you or the children with dread.  There have been so many challenges this year but we are still here and our community will continue to remain as supportive as ever.  To paraphrase some wall art I saw recently, ‘We’ve got this’.

With best wishes
