Dear Parents,
I’m often proud of the achievements of the children and this week has been no exception. Last weekend I travelled down to watch the girls play netball in the national finals. Whilst we did not come away with any silverware, the girls were competitive against schools with far more pupils. What we sometimes lacked in height we more than made up for in heart. And how lovely to see so many parents making the journey down to watch; we’re part of a wonderful community.
The boys also competed at the Rosslyn Park Sevens, the biggest competition in the country. Once again, we were one of the smallest schools there and the boys played with courage and determination in difficult conditions (I think they are just about clean now!). Mr Thorogood and Mr Kitching were mightily impressed with this team of young men.
I’ve loved watching ‘Joseph’ this week. There cannot be many places where almost a third of the school is involved in the production. There have been some stunning individual performances but my highlights are the chorus numbers when so many children have showing their love of performing. Whilst they are obviously learning to sing and dance, we should not under-estimate subsidiary benefits such as confidence building.
And to finish my week, the N&I School treated me to a wonderful Easter service. Year 3 led this service brilliantly and I thoroughly enjoyed their re-telling of the Easter story and their singing.
Non-Uniform Day
Next Thursday is going to be a non-uniform day in support of Sport Relief on both sides of the Green. The non-uniform worn should follow a sports theme (thankfully, an easy one for parents!) and we are asking the children to bring £1 to be donated to this charity.
Start of the Day
Please can I ask you to ensure the children are in school on time. Pupils should be with their tutors by 8.30am in the Prep & Senior School and by 8.45am in the Nursery & Infant School. Thank you for helping us re-enforce this important life lesson.
Books – N&I School
We’ve done a little stock take of reading books and we seem to be a little short. If you have any school reading books at home, please can you return them asap so that other children can borrow them.
PTA Ball – 27 April 2018
It’s almost upon us – don’t forget your tickets!
With best wishes
