a group of children at the top of roseberry topping

It was lovely to see the children in Year 3 visiting the Prep & Senior School this week.  They loved their visit which included taking part in an excellent workshop and a lovely lunch.  We aim to ensure the Year 3 children feel fully comfortable ‘crossing the road’ and, from the looks on their faces this week, it should be a smooth transition.  We will also be offering transitioning opportunities for parents to re-enforce my firmly held view that we are one school and you need not look anywhere else for an excellent education up to the age of 16.

MidYIS Information Evening – Years 7-10

Please remember to book a place at this event should you want a little more information on standardised data and how it is used.  The event is being held on 8 February 2017 at 5.30pm.  Please contact Linda on Reception: linda.ward@redhouseschool.co.uk

Talented Athlete Sponsorship Scheme (TASS)

I am delighted that we have been chosen by Teesside University to nominate talented athletes to work with the university.  As you know, sport at Red House is very strong and we are often triumphant against much bigger schools.  We also benefit from our pupils being members of an excellent local club, accessing inspirational coaching both in and out of school.  This further initiative, which has not been made available to any other independent school, can only serve to enhance sport at Red House.

Holiday Club and Sports Club

Both of these are filling up quickly for half term.  Please contact Mrs Green and/or Miss Howell if you would like to book places.  Moving forward, we will continue to offer as much help as we can during the holidays on both campuses for busy parents.

Open Morning

I promise this is the last time I will mention it … an easy promise since the event is tomorrow!  Please continue to encourage friends to attend this event.  We already have over 20 families pre-booked so let’s hope it’s a bumper event.  Thank you to those parents helping out and those dropping our volunteers off.  Feel free to join us for coffee and cake … before the children get their hands on it!

With best wishes

Ken James
