Dear Parents

It was lovely to see (most of) the children resplendent in yellow yesterday, supporting mental health issues in young people.  I think we all recognise how very different the world in which we find ourselves is for young people and the particular challenges they now face.  We’re very much committed to working with you to prepare our children for the world beyond Red House, with healthy bodies and healthy minds.  I’m a great believer in the values of outdoor education in this respect and I’m sure Year 6 and I will gain much from our weekend deep in the Cleveland Hills at Carlton Camp; we have waterproofs!

Tree Clearance at the Junior School

You may have noticed that we’ve cleared some trees behind the boundary wall in the Junior School.  This is so we can rebuild the wall, following advice from a structural engineer.  Norton Village Facebook page has, of course, led a discussion on the matter but I can confirm that we have planning permission to do so and we are not creating another car park!

Harvest Festivals

Thank you to those parents who attended the Harvest Festival services in the Junior School this week. The generosity of parents on both sides of the pond has given a great boost to the efforts of our local foodbanks.

Uniform Labelling

Please can you ensure all items of clothing coming into school are labelled.  We’re often looking to reunite the children with their possessions but a lack of a label does not help in this regard.

PTA Fireworks Night: Friday 8 November

A letter from the PTA is attached so that you can reserve your tickets early for this event after half term.  It’s always a very popular event so we recommend booking early.

Stay & Play: Thursday 28 November 1.45-3pm

We are delighted to be holding a Stay & Play event for prospective families on Thursday 28 November from 1.45-3pm.This is a great opportunity for friends or family members that have children aged 2-4 years old to come and experience an afternoon in Nursery. They will also be able to visit our Reception class and tour the Junior School. Please encourage any families that may be interested to get in touch and book a place.

For further information about the event, which I hear is going to be full of festive fun, with arts & crafts, storytelling and an elf hunt, please click here.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

With best wishes
