Dear Parents,
Some of the children might have mentioned that I’ve been missing in action this week. No, I’ve not had a midterm break: I’ve been in London training to be a school inspector. Independent school inspections are undertaken by serving (or recently retired) school leaders and the course has given me a great insight into what the inspectors wish to see. Thankfully, and as you’d expect, the children are at the very heart of the inspection progress. It is heartening to see that provision – the facilities, the most up-to-date management information system et al – is low down the list of priorities. It’s not about the bling but about pupil outcomes; I think we’re on secure ground here!
World Book Day
Sadly, I missed this event during the week but the photos on Facebook certainly lifted my spirits during a relatively tiresome journey from Kings Cross. Our thanks go to those parents who spent time making the wonderful costumes…and to some local supermarkets too! Thanks also to the staff who made this wonderful occasion such a fun event with excellent educational outcomes.
Readathon
You may know that the children in Years 4-9 are taking part in this initiative which encourages them to read for pleasure. It also helps to fund books and literary visitors for children’s hospital wards around the country. Thank you in advance for the financial support you give and for encouraging a love of books in the children.
Speech Drama Lessons
Trudy Hindmarsh, our Speech & Drama specialist, has some vacancies next term for individual tuition. Should your son or daughter wish to perfect their skills in this area, please contact Mrs Jackson in the N&I School:jane.jackson@redhouseschool.co.uk
Uniform Shop
I’m delighted Ann Morton has joined us to run the Uniform Shop and work in the Finance Department. Please continue to use the Uniform Shop email if you wish to contact Ann to arrange an order (the order form is on the website) or a visit. We will not be using the Uniform Shop bank account anymore and all payments should be made into the School bank account (the one which you use to pay school fees).
