Dear Parents

I would like to wish you all a warm welcome back after the October half term break. It was lovely to see the children back in school this week, looking so happy, re-energised and well-rested. It has been a very eventful week around the world, what with the US election still to be decided and the Government’s decision on Saturday to start a second lockdown yesterday. I know that the new restrictions imposed may cause some anxiety over the next few weeks. Please be assured that we will do all we can to support your son/daughter in school and, if there is anything you/your child are worried about in the meantime, please do get in touch and I will do my best to set your/their mind at ease.

Year 6 Face Masks

We are constantly reviewing and updating our policies in order to provide the safest teaching and learning environment for the children. With this in mind, we have decided to introduce the compulsory wearing of face masks for pupils in Year 6 from Monday 9 November 2020. Year 6 pupils will be required to wear a face mask while in communal areas of school, but not in their classroom. This will bring them inline with the other children in the Senior School.

PTA Virtual Quiz Night

Covid-19 has put a stop to most of the PTA’s plans for events this year. However, not to be defeated, the PTA would like to invite families to take part in a virtual quiz night on Friday 20 November at 7pm. Unfortunately you will have to supply your own pies and peas this year! Entry is free, so why not test your knowledge during lockdown? If your family group would like to take part, please register by clicking here, giving your email address so that we can send you a Zoom invitation in advance.

Remembrance Day commemorations

This morning, members of the prefect team delivered a very informative assembly on Remembrance Day including, the history of how the First World War ended and the Armistice was signed, the role of the British Legion and the importance of commemorating those who have given their lives for their country.

Next week, on Wednesday 11 November, the Junior School will be remembering Armistice Day by observing a minute’s silence at playtime and pupils in Year 3 are going to lay a wreath at the church memorial and do some readings.  Across the pond, in the Senior School, we will be listening to the Last Post at 11am, followed by a two-minute silence. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 regulations, the British Legion has been unable to sell poppies in schools this year. However, if you would like to support the British Legion, you may do so by clicking here.

PTA Virtual Meeting

The next virtual PTA meeting will be taking place on Wednesday 11 November at 6pm. Please contact me (click here) if you would like to receive an invitation to join the meeting.

Wellbeing Surveys

This week, all pupils across both sites have completed a wellbeing survey. The information garnered from these surveys will form a crucial part of our Wellness and Emotional Mental Health strategy moving forwards.

Thank you to all parents who have already completed the Parent Wellbeing Survey. If you would still like to participate in the survey, I have extended the deadline to 4.30pm on Monday 9 November.

Pupils should bring in a £1 donation if they wish to wear non-uniform. There will be activities running throughout the day. Name the Pudsey Bear will be £1 to enter and there will be a school quiz with prizes; this will be 50p to enter. Thank you in anticipation for your support for this event.
