Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Final Expedition
Pupils involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award will be taking part in their final expedition on 4/5 and 6/7 July. The expedition will be in the Barnard Castle area, and groups will be camping overnight at Barnard Castle. Pupils will not be accompanied by members of staff as they walk, however, they will be closely monitored through observation and meeting at regular checkpoints. There will also be a staff presence on each campsite overnight.
As previously advised, it is part of the awards criteria that pupils plan and complete an unaccompanied self-reliant expedition. This means that groups must make their own way to starting points and be collected when the expedition is completed. I trust that there are no problems with this and groups have been able to make the required arrangements.
This trip is covered by the Schools insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leader. All pupils and staff will be carrying First Aid kits. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
I have enclosed a Parental Consent and Medical form for your attention and completion. I would be grateful if you could return this to me by 1st July.
Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the expedition or any other aspect of the Award.
