Dear Parent,
Harvest Service 2014 – Trussell Trust
Our Harvest Festival will take place in St. Mary’s Church on Friday 3rd October at 9.15am.
All parents are invited to join us for the Harvest Service. Nursery pupils will not be attending the service. We ask that you do not bring young children to the service as they have in the past disturbed the service and distracted the pupils when they are reading.
This year we have chosen to support the Trussel Trust. The Trussell Trust is a Christian charity that does not affiliate itself with any political party and receives no government funding. Its foodbanks provide a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK.In 2013-14 foodbanks fed 913,138 people nationwide. Of those helped, 330,205 were children. Rising food and fuel prices, static incomes, underemployment and changes to benefits are some of the reasons why increasing numbers are being referred to foodbanks for emergency food. Our local foodbanks are in Billingham, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.
We would be grateful of any donations of food items from the list below. Please place items in the box in each classroom and they will be taken into church by each class for the Harvest Service.
