Information for Year 7 parents
Now that we have settled in to the Autumn Term I thought it would be helpful to remind you of routines in Key Stage 3.
Red House School is an academic school and we encourage good habits early in school life. The setting of prep or homework plays an important part in this. Prep in Key stage 3 should take no more than 30 minutes per subject and this will mean pupils will have up to an hour of prep on most days and up to 90 minutes of prep on days when three subjects are set. Pupils are to record their homework in their planner so that parents can check homework and sign it every day.
It is also the pupil’s responsibility to explain to staff if there has been an issue completing or handing in prep. Likewise it is the pupil’s responsibility to catch up on class work and prep set during an absence.
Pupils also need to ensure they have the correct books for their lessons and need to pack their bags each morning and afternoon. Many pupils find plastic A4 envelope wallets or A4 zip lock wallets helpful to store all of the books they need for each subject.
A prep timetable for Year 7 has been attached for your information.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
