Five Day Languages Study Tour to Berlin
23 – 27 March 2016
It is with great enthusiasm that we can now reveal the destination of our next German adventure. We are hoping to visit Berlin, the cosmopolitan capital of Germany, situated on the banks of the River Spree. Berlin is steeped in history and is renowned for its vibrant culture and contemporary arts. Your child will get the opportunity to develop his / her language skills whilst being immersed into the German way of life.
This trip will take place during the first week of the Easter holidays from Wednesday 3rd March until Sunday 27th March 2016. Travel will be by coach directly from Red House School. Our accommodation will be in the Meininger Hotel located in the city centre. All rooms have en-suite facilities and televisions.
During the visit your son / daughter will have the chance to visit some very interesting and famous sites around the area. We hope to include:
- A visit to the Reichstag. Pupils will make a 230 metre ascent to experience panoramic views of the city.
- A boat trip on the River Spree. Pupils will travel through the historic centre of Berlin and find out more about the landmarks and varied architecture.
- A visit to the Tropical Islands resort. This is home to the world’s largest indoor rainforest. The resort offers lots of activities such as numerous pools, lagoons, beaches and waterslides.
- A visit to the television tower. Pupils will be able to marvel at the spectacular views from Berlin’s tallest structure.
- An evening of bowling.
- A shopping adventure in the famous KaDeWe store.
- A guided tour of the city to see some of the famous sights.
I am sure that you can appreciate that this will be a fun packed educational trip not to be missed which will be the beginning of your child’s love affair with the country and culture. It will bring to life all the hard work they have put in at school and give them a real reason to work hard.
The cost of the trip, including transport, accommodation, most meals, all entrance fees and insurance will be £ 650.00. The only additional costs will be your child’s passport, pocket money and meals on the outward and return journey.
We will be travelling with a well established educational travel company who are members of ABTA and the ‘School Travel Forum’, a body recently established to further the development of safety initiatives within educational travel. A risk assessment will be completed prior to the trip and we will also have a member of staff accompanying us who is a trained first aider. A first aid kit will be available at all times.
If you would like your child to participate please complete the form below and return it to me together with a cheque for £150:00 by Friday 27th February 2015. Cheques should be made payable to Red House School. Places will be strictly in order of receipt of deposits.
Please note that money may not be refunded at a later date if your son / daughter is unable to attend and the school is unable to fully recover the amount paid to the trip organiser.
I appreciate that this is an expensive outlay but as you have read the trip is packed full of exciting visits which are a wealth of cross-curricular activities covering areas such as language and history.
We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
