Dear Parents

Prep and Senior School Charity Events Spring Term

As we approach the end of the Spring term there are several charitable events that are taking place over this half term that I wish to bring to your attention.

Friday, 21std March, will be a non-uniform day to raise funds for Sports Relief.  Pupils should bring £1 to school for the privilege of wearing sport themed non-uniform, football shirts are permitted.

Thursday 20th April also sees the welcome return of Staff vs Year 11 netball match, pupils can watch this amazing sporting spectacle for the cost of 50p.

All the money raised by the non-uniform day and netball match will be spent by Comic Relief to help change lives across the UK and the world’s poorest countries. £5 will buy new clothes for a child living or working on the streets of Nepal. £10 will give expert advice and guidance to a person living with dementia in the UK. £20 will give vital medicine to 16 children in Uganda who have severe malaria so they can survive the long journey to hospital.

The last day of term sees the welcome return of ‘Red House has talent’ our annual charity talent competition.  Pupils are encouraged to participate in the competition at the cost of £1 per person.  Those pupils who do not wish to enter the competition will be in the audience, the cost to spectate is £1 per pupil.  The proceeds for this event will be used to support the Omwabini project in Kenya, helping to build houses and securing access to clean water to local communities.   As we will be attending an Easter church service on the morning of the last day of term pupils should come to school in their normal school uniform.  Those who need to change due to their participation in ‘Red House has talent’ should do so during lunch break.

May I also take the opportunity to thank you for your continued support towards our charitable work.  Our friends at ‘One Ummah’ were overwhelmed with your donations for the people of Syria.  Those donations should now be in Syria helping those affected by the civil war.  Pupils also raised £125 selling Valentine’s themed cake pops.

If you have any questions regarding this letter or require any further information regarding the charities please feel free to contact me via email at lara.roberts@redhouseschool.co.uk

Thank you in anticipation of your support.

Yours faithfully

Mrs Lara Roberts
