Dear Parents,

Reception Trip: Blue Reef Aquarium, Tynemouth & Souter Lighthouse

As part of our topic on ‘under the sea / seaside’, Reception pupils will be visiting the Blue Reef Aquarium in Tynemouth and Souter Lighthouse on Thursday 23rd June 2016. The objective of the visit is to learn more about creatures that live under the sea. The children will have the opportunity to see and touch a number of sea life creatures in the ‘touchy feely’ workshop and visit a working lighthouse in the afternoon.

We shall be travelling by coach (M & D Travel) leaving school promptly at 8.50am so it is vital all children are in school by 8:40am. A packed lunch, water and snack will be provided by School. We will return to school at approximately 3.15pm. During the day we will be engaged in various indoor and outdoor activities. Pupils should wear their normal school uniform with an outdoor coat. We also advise that sun cream of the ‘once a day’ type should be applied before school. Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by accompanying adults and the centre staff.

Pupils are covered under the School’s insurance policy. Mrs Waldock and Miss Dring will lead the trip. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip. We would like a few parents to act as assistant leaders on the trip. If you are available to assist please complete the slip below and return to Mrs Green.

The cost of the trip will be £17.25 which will be added to the next term’s school fees.

Please ensure that you have notified school of any changes to your contact numbers and any new medical conditions for your child and ensure any inhalers/medications are given to your child’s teacher to take on the trip. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, Facebook and twitter pages to see a selection of photographs.

Yours sincerely

Mrs L Waldock                                    Miss R Dring
