4th November 2014
Remembrance Day: Tuesday 11th November 2014 – 10.30am
On the above date, Reverend Martin Anderson will be leading a short service of remembrance in St Mary’s and at the War Memorial in the churchyard. Year 3 pupils will be attending along with Pupil Council representatives from Reception to Year 2. They will be joined by pupils from other local schools. Please ensure your child has their outdoor coat, fleece hat, gloves and scarf in school on that day in case the weather is very cold. If the weather is very poor the service will be held inside the church.
Pupils from Nursery to Year 2 will observe a minute’s silence at 11am in the playground, along with their class teacher.
Poppies are on sale from Mrs Green. In addition there will be a small number of wooden crosses available. Pupils/families may write a short message on the cross. The crosses will be placed at the war memorial on the day of the service.
The Royal British Legion suggest a donation of £1 per poppy and £2.50 per cross.
I am sure the children will find the service a valuable experience.
