Dear Parents

The forthcoming ski trip will be to Les Menuires.  Les Menuires is part of the enormous Three Valley ski area in the French Alps and has one of Europe’s largest ski areas.

Les Menuires is in the Belleville valley of Les Trois Vallées between Saint-Martin-de-Belleville and Val Thorens.  The resort has 39 ski lifts. The resort has 6 black and 24 red advanced ski slopes as well as 37 blue and 13 green beginner slopes. The resort also hosted the men’s slalom alpine skiing event at the 1992 Winter Olympics. Its slopes are connected to more than 600 km of slopes in Les Trois Vallées, making it a part of the largest skiable area in the world. In addition to the huge variety on offer, Les Menuires has an excellent snow record and varied evening entertainment.

We shall be staying at the Clubhotel Piolet which has a prime location adjacent to the slopes and will allow us to enjoy doorstep skiing.  The hotel has 33 rooms and a huge sun terrace.  Most of the bedrooms have stunning views across the valley to the Cime de Carron ski area.  The majority of rooms are four bedded, with a few between 5-7 utilising mezzanine floors so the pupils never feel overcrowded. All rooms are en suite.

Ski fit is provided by highly trained technicians who maintain all the equipment to the highest possible standards. Storage, including drying racks, is very conveniently located within the hotel so pupils do not have to carry skis or boots any distance.

Meals include a buffet breakfast and a two course evening meal.  The hotel’s prime location adjacent to the slopes will allow us to enjoy hot lunches.

The après ski entertainment may include cinema, swimming, bowling, ice-skating, as well as quizzes, bingo and karaoke. These are group activities in which all pupils participate and the money for these activities is normally taken from pocket money during the course of the holiday.

Pupils may be given permission, during our stay at Les Menuires, to go shopping in small groups without the direct supervision of a member of staff.

The trip will depart on the 12th  December 2015 and return on the 19th December 2015.

The cost of the holiday will be £915 and will include:

  • Return coach transfer between school and airport
  • Return flight and resort transfers from a northern airport
  • Overseas coach transfers
  • 7 nights full board accommodation – including hot lunches
  • 6 day lift pass
