SKI FRANCE 2016

Dear Parents

The forthcoming ski trip will be to Les Deux Alpes. Les Deux Alpes was voted European Resort of the Year at the World Snow Awards 2015. Snowsure glacier skiing has made Les Deux Alpes a well-established favourite amongst British skiers.

Les Deux Alpes is a superb resort for all standards of skier. Excellent beginner slopes near the resort and on the glacier make it a great place to learn whilst enjoying the stunning mountain views. Intermediates have plenty of variety while expert skiers can explore over 220km of piste in this ‘upside down’ ski area. The resort is known as upside down largely because some of the easiest runs and beginner slopes are found higher up the mountain. Consequently some of the steepest and toughest slopes run into the resort, making Les Deux Alpes pretty unique. In the coming season, however, a brand new blue 10km slope is opening at Les Deux Alpes which starts at the glacier and runs all the way down to the bottom of the resort so skiers of all abilities will be able to ski back to the resort.

At an altitude of 3600m with the benefit of its glacier, Les Deux Alpes is a snow-sure and popular destination for school ski groups. One of the most famous resorts in Europe, it offers some great skiing on over 220km of prepared piste. Some of the easiest slopes are to be found higher up around the glacier area, making this ski village a wonderful choice for groups, whilst intermediates have the choice of mid-level reds and more experienced skiers can show off their skills on the range of blacks that descend into town. Great news for LDA is the brand new 10km blue run opening this season which starts from the glacier and runs all the way down to the bottom of resort. Previously, the route back to the town was via blacks and very busy green runs, so this is excellent news for beginners and intermediates and makes LDA an excellent choice for school groups! In addition to the huge variety on offer, Les Deux Alpes has an excellent snow record and varied evening entertainment.

We shall be staying at the Hotel Pied Moutet which has a prime location adjacent to the slopes

The hotel has a warm, friendly athmosphere in the heart of the world famous ski resort of Les Deux Alpes at an altitude of 1650 meters. It is situated in the old part of the town, but only a minute walk from the ultra modern 6 seater chairlift (Le Diable), which transports skiers towards the glaciers at a height of 3600 metres. The majority of rooms are four bedded, with the maximum occupancy six. All rooms are en suite. Meals include a buffet breakfast and a three course evening meal. The hotel’s prime location adjacent to the slopes will allow us to enjoy hot lunches.

The après ski entertainment may include swimming, bowling, ice-skating, as well as quizzes, bingo and karaoke. These are group activities in which all pupils participate and the money for these activities is normally taken from pocket money during the course of the holiday.

Pupils may be given permission, during our stay at Les Deux Alpes, to go shopping in small groups without the direct supervision of a member of staff. However, the traffic situation will be assessed by staff prior to this permission.

The trip will depart on the 10th December 2016 and return on the 17th December 2016.

The cost of the holiday will be £959 and will include:
