13 March 2015

Dear Parent

As you may be aware, there is a solar eclipse on Friday, 20 March 2015. This is the first significant eclipse since 1999 to be visible from the UK and the next one will not be until 2026.  To mark this event, Mr Makin will be conducting a special assembly.

Pupils will have the opportunity to view the eclipse, which will see more than 90% of the sun being obscured by the moon. To avoid damage to their eyes, pupils will be issued with special glasses which they will be able to keep as a souvenir of the event.  The cost of the glasses, which will be subsidised by the School, is £1.30.  This will be added to your summer fee account.  If you do not wish to purchase a pair of safety glasses, unfortunately, your child will not be able to participate in this event.

Yours faithfully

A R W Taylor
