Year 2 Trip to Bede’s World: Tuesday 3rd June
As part of our RS topic on St. Bede, Year 2 will be visiting Bede’s World in Jarrow on Tuesday 3rd June. The object of the visit is to learn about the life of St. Bede in the Monastery. The children will have the opportunity to combine history with an element of literacy as they scribe, handle replica tools and materials and write with a quill pen.
We shall be travelling by coach (Compass Royston) and will be leaving school promptly at 8.50am so we would appreciate if all children are in school by 8:30am. A packed lunch and snack will be provided by school. We will return to school at approximately 4pm. The cost of the trip will be £14.50 which will be added to the next term’s school fees.
During the day we will be engaged in various outdoor activities and the children will be wearing costumes provided by the centre. The children should wear their school P.E shirt, sweatshirt, tracksuit bottoms and trainers. They should also bring their waterproof coat. We also advise that sun cream of the ‘once a day’ type should be applied before school. Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by accompanying adults and the centre staff.
Pupils are covered under the School’s insurance policy. Mrs Summers and Miss Warnock will lead the trip. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip
We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, Facebook and twitter pages to see a selection of photographs.
