Dear Parents,
Year 3 Trip to Go Outdoors and Roseberry Topping.
This term the humanities topic for Year 3 will be Mighty Mountains. As part of the topic we shall be visiting Go Outdoors from 1.30 – 3.30pm on the afternoon of Thursday 25th September to investigate mountain clothing and equipment. On Thursday 2nd October the children will be undertaking a ‘day expedition’ to Roseberry Topping during which they will record wind speed and temperature, study flora and fauna, draw field sketches, practise survival techniques, as well as climb Roseberry Topping. We shall depart at 9.30am and return to school for 3.30pm.
On both occasions we shall travel by school/hired minibus.
For the afternoon trip to Go Outdoors children will need to wear their normal school uniform. For the day trip to Roseberry Topping children will need the following items:
Trainers with good grip or walking boots. (Please do not buy boots specifically for the trip)
Socks
Trousers
Shirt
Sweatshirt / fleece
Cagoule / Waterproof coat
Over trousers
Day sack
Sun hat / hat / gloves depending on the weather forecast
Once a-day sun screen (to be applied at home in the morning).
A healthy snack and a diluted drink or water
A packed lunch will be supplied by school
The total cost for these trips will be £5. A qualified first aider will accompany the trips. Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by accompanying adults. Pupils are covered under the School’s insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders. Mr Haywood will lead the trip and will be accompanied by Miss Everington.
