9th May 2014
On Tuesday 17th June, Year 3 will be visiting Murton Park near York for a trip back in history to Viking times.
We will be visiting Danelaw which is a large outdoor classroom cunningly disguised as a Viking Village. The children will spend the day as Viking settlers. This will involve dressing in simple period costumes which will be provided. They will be taken to their new homes in the village and spend the day living as a Viking family, learning different skills and the dangers of their daily life.
We will be leaving school at 8.30am prompt travelling by coach (Compass Royston) and returning to school at approximately 4.45pm. The children will have a Viking packed lunch provided.
Mr Haywood and Miss Everington will lead the trip and two additional adults will accompany the children. A qualified first aider will be present. The cost of £25will be added to next term’s fees. Pupils are covered under the School’s insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders.
The children should wear their PE tracksuit and shirt as the costumes will be worn on top of their own clothes. On their feet they should wear trainers. The school coat should also be brought and sun cream of the ‘once a day’ type should be applied before school. In addition the children may bring a bottle of water and they may bring a small camera, but they would have to be responsible for it. They may bring a maximum of £3 to spend in the gift shop. Money should be handed to the class teacher on the morning in a named purse or a sealed envelope with the child’s name on the front
Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by both the accompanying adults and the staff at the centre.
We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, Facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
