Year 3 Visit to Northumbria University Sports Centre : Monday 31st March
On Monday 31st March Year 3 pupils will be visiting Northumbria University Sports Centre as part of their topic on the Olympics. The children will take part in an Olympic style training session led by a member of the British Olympic Bobsleigh team, they will tour the sports science laboratories and fitness training centre. After lunch a member of the Newcastle Eagles Basketball squad will hold a skills session. We are grateful to Mr Guy Taylor, who works with elite GB athletes, for organising this exciting opportunity for the pupils.
The group will depart at 8.55am and travel by coach to Newcastle (Compass Royston Coaches). They will return to School in time for the end of the school day.
Pupils should wear their school PE kit, with the school sweatshirt and tracksuit bottoms and take their outdoor coat. The children should travel in their school shoes and carry their trainers in a small bag. Trainers must be clean. A packed lunch and drink will be provided, however children should ensure they have a bottle of water and a healthy snack e.g. a banana.
Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by both the accompanying adults and the staff at the Sports Centre.
Mr Haywood will lead the visit and will be accompanied by Miss Everington and Mrs Jackson.
Pupils are covered under the school’s insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the staff. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip. There will be charge of £8.50 which will be added to next term’s school fees.
We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, Facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
