Year 4 trip
We have organised a visit to Barley Hall in York on Tuesday 24th March as part of our history topic on the Tudors. Barley Hall is a stunning medieval house, once the home of the Priors of Nostell and the Mayor of York. The pupils will dress up in Tudor costume and become servants for the day. They will lay the tables, polish the brass, make soap and clean the buttery and pantry. They will also learn about some of the more refined aspects of Tudor life through the Tudor School session. The children will be accompanied by Mr Jones and Miss White and a parent volunteer. We will using Compass Royston Travel, leaving school at 8.30am prompt and arriving back, traffic allowing by 4.00pm. A packed lunch will be provided but pupils can bring a small amount of money with them if they wish to buy an extra snack and drink. Pupils should wear full school uniform. Children need to ensure that they have their warm outdoor school coat with them.
Staff will carry a first aid kit with them on this outing and there are first aid facilities at Barley Hall. Normal school rules apply, including the wearing of school uniform and the prohibition of sweets, chewing gum and electronic games. The usual school insurance policy will cover the trips. Please ensure if your child suffers from asthma or severe allergic reactions their inhaler/medication/epipen is with them, if they do not have them, they will be unable to go on the trip. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
The cost of this trip will be £15.50, which will be added to your summer term fee bill. If you have any questions about the proposed visit, please do not hesitate to contact us at school.
