09 June 2015
On Monday 29th June 2015 pupils in Year 4 are going to Saltholme RSPB reserve as an extension of their science work. They will be observing birds in their different habitats, going on a mini-beast hunt and pond dipping. They will also have the opportunity to visit the adventure playground and the gift shop, so they may bring a small amount of money to spend if they wish. The pupils will be accompanied by Mr Heaton and Mrs Coverdale who will be their form tutors in Year 5. Pupils will leave school at 9:30am, using the school minibuses, and will return by 3:30pm. Pupils will be provided with a packed lunch but they may bring a snack and drink in addition to this if they wish. As it is expected that the children will be outdoors for most of the day, they should wear their outdoor PE kit and appropriate footwear, such as wellington boots or trainers. A waterproof coat could be needed and a hat and sun cream may be necessary, depending on the weather. The cost of this trip is £5.50 which will be added to your autumn term fee bill. Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by both the accompanying adults and the staff at the centre. A qualified first aider will accompany the trip. Pupils are covered under the school’s insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders.
Please ensure that you have notified School of any changes to your contact numbers and any new medical conditions for your child and ensure any inhalers/medications are given to your child’s teacher to take on the trip. If they do not have them, they will be unable to go on the trip. We endeavour to take photographs on as many School trips as possible, please visit our website, Facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
