Dear Parents

On Monday 27th June 2016 pupils in Year 4 are going to Saltholme RSPB reserve as an extension of their science work. They will be observing birds in their different habitats, going on a mini-beast hunt and pond dipping. They will also have the opportunity to visit the adventure playground and the gift shop, so they may bring a small amount of money to spend if they wish. The pupils will be accompanied by Mr Heaton and Mrs Coverdale who will be their form tutors in Year 5. Pupils will leave school at 9:30am, using the school minibuses, and will return by 3:30pm. Pupils will be provided with a packed lunch but they may bring a snack and drink in addition to this if they wish. As it is expected that the children will be outdoors for most of the day, they should wear their outdoor PE kit and appropriate footwear, such as wellington boots or trainers. A waterproof coat could be needed and a hat and sun cream may be necessary, depending on the weather. Pupils are expected to demonstrate excellent behaviour at all times and to follow instructions given by both the accompanying adults and the staff at the centre. There is no cost attached to this trip.

A qualified first aider will accompany the pupils on this trip. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders. The trip will be subject to the conditions as set out in the Parent Contract, and will be covered by the school’s insurance policy. Please ensure if your child suffers from asthma or severe allergic reactions their inhaler/medication/epipen is in school, if they do not have them, they will be unable to go on the trip. Pupils are not allowed to bring any personal items such as personal stereos, mobile phones or cameras. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.

Yours faithfully

Miss T White

Key Two Stage Coordinator.
