Year 5 Cross Curricular Trip to the Orthodox Synagogue, and The Hancock Museum, Newcastle
On Thursday, 12th March all pupils in Year 5 will visit the Hancock Museum in Newcastle and the Orthodox Synagogue.
To consolidate the work we have done this term we will be visiting the Egyptian galleries and then moving on to see the Greek Galleries in preparation for starting work on Ancient Greece next term.
In the afternoon we will visit the Orthodox Synagogue, as part of the Key Stage 2 programme covering beliefs and practices of the Jewish faith.
We will be travelling by coach. The cost of the visit will be £10 which will be added to your summer term bill. This covers the cost of the coach and includes a small donation for the synagogue.
- I wish to draw your attention to the tradition for boys to cover their heads when inside the synagogue. I would, therefore, ask that all boys wear a baseball cap for the visit.
Pupils can bring a small amount of money with which to buy souvenirs and/or an additional drink, if time permits. Under no circumstances will chewing gum or fizzy drinks be allowed.
The visit will take place during the school day, pupils will be leaving school at 8.50am prompt and pupils will be back at school, traffic permitting, by 4.00pm. Children will need to wear school uniform. As usual, packed lunches will be provided. This trip will be covered by the schools insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leader. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip. Please ensure if your child suffers from asthma or severe allergic reactions their inhaler/medication/epipen is in school, if they do not have them, they will be unable to go on the trip. Personal items such as mobile phones, personal stereos, iPods or cameras are not allowed. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
Thank you in anticipation of your continuing support.
