To consolidate their year 7 history studies, the History Department has organised a trip to Bolton Castle on Wednesday 11th June. We are aiming to leave school about 8.30am and will return to school, traffic permitting, for approximately 4.00pm.
The day will cover different aspects of medieval life brought alive by ‘Time Talk’ a company that specialises in historical recreation and includes
- Entrance to Castle
- Tour of castle
- Tudor style banquet
- Costume Hire
- Medieval activities covering areas such as calligraphy, pike drill, pomander making and dancing
- Weather and staffing permitting, a bird of prey display
Pupils should wear their school sports gear (polo shirt, sweatshirt, tracksuit bottoms, waterproof jacket and trainers) as this will provide protection from the weather.
There will be no need to bring any food or drink as school will provide lunch. Pupils can bring a small amount of money (£5 maximum) with which to buy souvenirs and/or an additional drink, if time permits.
This trip will be covered by the School’s insurance policy. A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leader. A qualified first aider will be accompanying the trip. Personal items such as mobile phones, personal stereos, iPods or cameras are not allowed. The school and castle cannot be held responsible for the care of these items if any pupil brings them and insurance will not cover them. We endeavour to take photographs on as many school trips as possible, please visit our website, facebook and twitter pages to view a selection of photographs.
The cost of the day will be £20.50 which includes the activities outlined above and travel to and from the castle. The amount will be added to your autumn term fee bill.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries or questions on any aspect of the trip.
