Dear Parents

This term pupils in Year 8 we will be covering the topic of ‘atoms, elements and compounds’. They will develop their understanding of chemical reactions and improve their ability to form chemical equations. To complement their studies and to help improve the understanding of chemical reactions we will be taking the children to the ‘Ministry of Science’ show at Billingham Forum on the afternoon of 22 September.

Pupils will leave school at 1pm on and travel to the Forum by school minibus. Pupils should, where possible, be collected from Billingham forum at 3.30pm. If your child requires transport back to school please could you contact me directly via email : lynzey.spencer-crabb@redhouseschool.co.uk. A packed lunch will be provided.

The cost of the visit will be £10.00 which will be added to your spring term account.

A full risk assessment has been undertaken by the group leaders. The trip will be subject to the conditions as set out in the Parent Contract and will be covered by the school’s insurance policy.

Normal school rules will apply, including the wearing of uniform and the prohibition of sweets

and chewing gum. Staff will take a first aid kit with them and there are first aid facilities at the theatre. If your child suffers from asthma or serve allergic reactions please enusre their inhaler/medication/epipen is with them, if they do not have them. They will be unable to go on the trip.

Personal items such as ipods or cameras are not allowed. The school cannot be held responsible for the care of these items if any pupil brings them
